In a study from Indonesia, it was found that hemp seed oil can accelerate wound healing in humans.
In addition to its potential food, cosmetic, and other uses in wound management, the potential anti-inflammatory properties of hemp seed oil, along with antimicrobial and skin-regenerative abilities, are gaining attention.
Researchers from Universitas Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh compared hemp seed oil to an antibiotic, chloramphenicol ointment over a number of weeks. They also compared it with a placebo.
The hemp seed oil was superior to chloramphenicol in terms of reducing the size of the wounds in the initial stages (days 1, 3 and 7). However, the difference in wound reduction between the two treatments became more pronounced on days 14 and 21, when the treatment showed greater effectiveness.
The present study found that while both treatments increased epithelization, hemp seed oil had a significant impact on the 14th day. This suggests it may have a special benefit during this crucial stage of wound repair, possibly accelerating tissue remodeling.
Researchers conclude:
The study authors stated that hemp seed oil showed significant potential to accelerate wound healing processes. This included promoting epithelialization and formation of granulation tissues, as well as reducing wound sizes. It also had a superior impact compared with chloramphenicol cream. Hemp seed oil is a natural alternative or adjunct treatment that can be used to treat wounds, especially for those patients who are looking for a cost-effective and natural option.
Researchers said that despite encouraging results, more research is needed to determine the safety and efficacy of hemp oil for human wounds;
In January, the study published in Narra J was released. can be found here.
Recently, we reported that hemp seed oil could be used to treat malaria. Research suggests Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids can kill off malaria parasites – and hemp seed oil is rich in Omega-3. US-based company claims that hemp seed oils can help to regulate your immune system. This will prevent you from experiencing a potentially dangerous inflammation cascade.
Hemp seed oil is being discussed by the firm with officials in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Ghana. These are countries that have a high rate of malaria.
