Colorado’s medicinal-psilocybin programme is scheduled to start soon, after officials confirmed they licensed and checked a testing laboratory, the final business type required for the proper running of the program. Marijuana Moment has reported.
Colorado Department of Revenue, Natural Medicine Division said Tuesday in an email that they are “excited” to announce the full certification of the Department of Public Health and Environment’s (CDPHE) first licensed testing facility.
Colorado voters have approved legalizing psychedelics mushrooms by 2022. The proposal allows people over 21 to grow and share the psychedelic mushroom. In addition, the state will establish regulated “healing centres” where individuals can make an appointment to consume the psilocybin drug in a supervised environment.
In addition to the test license, regulators approved 5 separate licenses of healing centers, 3 cultivation licenses and 2 manufacturing licenses. Many more licenses remain pending.
Colorado Department of Revenue licensed growers, manufacturers, testing facilities and healing centers. The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies licensed facilitators. Now that natural medicine is being transferred to a testing lab, then to a heal center, where a facilitator will oversee administration, it can be done. — CDPHE statement, via Marijuana Moment
Colorado’s psychedelics programs follows the Oregon program, which was approved by voters in Oregon in late 2020 and launched early in 2023.
