MEDCAN24 – Cannabis Edition: Gearing Up For Fourth Of July Weekend

This weekend is the Fourth of July, which is usually a day that Americans gather in large groups, eat hot dogs, watch fireworks and celebrate freedom. COVID-19 will make this year’s Fourth of July different. There are many fireworks events being cancelled across the country and large gatherings of people should be avoided.

You can still enjoy your day, whether you’re with friends in your social bubble or Zoom. For the weekend, we’ve compiled a huge list of foods and strains that go well with Independence Day.

Let’s also use the holiday as a time to consider how, in terms of our freedom, there are still many things that we cannot do, possess or eat. It is important to note that there are still many things we need to do in order for the cannabis plant, which we love so much, and other areas of society to become legalized.

You can read about the best strains to celebrate your Fourth of July.

This year, we have all you need for a spectacular fireworks display to celebrate your nation’s 241st anniversary.

As is the case every Independence Day these hotdogs won’t just eat by themselves. The right fuel is needed to get the BBQ going in the afternoon, then move on to the fireworks show, and finish the evening with a bonfire, which may not be up to code.

As always, remember to consume responsibly — especially where fireworks are involved.

Do’s and Don’ts of Fourth of July Weekend

There will be many backyard barbecues and poolside events this weekend where smokers can show their good manners. Most people know to not spit on the bong, to not torch the bowl when ripping, and to “puff puff pass” in group settings. Many details are overlooked and can lead to disastrous party fouls.

Here are some tips to keep your weekend free of blunders.

Marijuana Legalization: Where's the Buzz About Freedom?

Marijuana: Why is there no buzz?

There is one part of the marijuana debate that isn’t discussed as often as it could be. That is that it doesn’t apply to adults. You can also check out John Law cannot put the herbs in cages.

While you’re out today with family and friends, grilling food, drinking alcohol and firing explosives, chew on this. The first spark you light today could be dedicated to all the freedoms that are to come. And if that spark just so happens to lead to you getting stoned, well, all the better.

Let’s face it, every Fourth of July, we all celebrate — hard. Those of us hosting backyard barbecues across the nation will be whipping up traditional American foods, including hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, potato salad, macaroni salad, potato chips, strawberry shortcakes, barbecue pork and chicken, lemonade,  flag-colored desserts, and spiked drinks of every concoction. While eating healthy food seems to be almost impossible on the Fourth of July,  this recipe for cannabis-infused overnight oats with strawberries is both indulgent and nutritious.
