Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority acknowledged Wednesday in a post to Facebook that thousands state-issued licenses for medical cannabis had accidentally been canceled over night due to a computer glitch.
It was determined that the glitch in Tentia’s occupational licensing software caused the problem. And regulators are “working quickly to find out the cause of this, as well as the inconveniences it has brought on thousands and businesses.”
If you were one of thousands of business that received the notification, then you may continue to operate. Let us know you were impacted via our contact form at omma.ok.gov/contact.” — OMMA statement, via Facebook
In 2024, however, Oklahoma’s medical cannabis industry continued to decline, following a major downturn that began in 2022, when legislators imposed a ban on the issuance of new licenses. The moratorium, which is set to last until 2026 will require anyone who wants to get a medical marijuana license to buy one from a licensed provider and have regulators approve it.
In 2023, a report revealed that licensed cannabis growers in the state produced 64 times the amount of product compared to the demand.
