Nebraska Medical Cannabis Advocate & CBD Store Owner Running for Governor   – MEDCAN24

Jacy C. Todd will run for governor of Nebraska in 2026. According to the Nebraska Examiner, Todd, 54, who is also a medical cannabis advocate and owner of a CBD health and wellness retail store, will be running as a Republican. Todd, 54 and a proponent of medical cannabis and the owner of a CBD retail health store will be running as a Republican to challenge Gov. Jim Pillen is the nominee for Republican primary.

Todd said that he wanted to “be a voice of the people”, and show that it’s not just the rich who get elected. He will run a grassroots election, in an attempt to out-voice Pillen.  

“I think that Nebraska is a powerful enough state that we could grassroot this all the way to the Capitol and clean house up there,” Tood told the Examiner. 

Todd said to the Examiner he started using cannabis after his service as a medic during Operation Desert Storm. He told the Examiner that he started using cannabis as a pain reliever and eventually opened Herban Pulse in order to help other people. 

Following the successful 2024 campaign to legalize medical cannabis in the state, Todd was charged with criminal malfeasance – accused of improperly notarizing pages of medical cannabis petition signatures on 24 occasions. Those charges were initially dropped but were resurrected in April by a Hall County District Court Judge with a trial scheduled for September.
