Ohio agencies are reminding residents to stay safe during Independence Day celebrations—particularly around fireworks, alcohol, and public cannabis use.

Ohioans are gearing up for July 4 celebrations and the State Fire Marshal Kevin Reardon warns against risky behavior—last year saw 135 fireworks-related incidents and 32 structure fires, causing $760,000 in damage. The alcohol issue is being closely monitored. Division of Liquor Control stresses responsible drinking. Stay hydrated, plan your ride, and eat to stay safe.

Ohio’s Division of Cannabis Control has added a new warning regarding public marijuana usage. The use of non-medical cannabis is considered a minor offense. Superintendent Jim Canepa reminds adults to exercise judgment and keep products away from kids  .

Bellefontaine and other local communities take extra precautions to protect residents. The police chief in Bellefontaine reminds the residents of their city that it is illegal to possess fireworks or use them without being a licensed vendor. Alcohol must be treated responsibly, and fireworks complaints should be reported via non-emergency channels, reserving 911 for real emergencies  .
