Nebraska Gov. Signs Emergency Medical Cannabis Regulations  – MEDCAN24

Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen signed the emergency regulations on Tuesday to implement medical cannabis laws approved by state voters. The state Medical Cannabis Commission approved the regulations last week.

Regulations allow for the licensing of medical cannabis producers, manufacturers, distributors, and transporters. Individuals or groups are limited to one license type.

During a recent meeting, the Commission also signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Governor’s Policy and Research Office and Department of Health and Human Services to provide assistance with administrative and legal processes when creating permanent rules. Permanent rules must be submitted by October 1, 2018. Pillen stated in a release that participation by these agencies would ensure Nebraska’s marijuana industry is properly regulated, as detailed in the ballot measures passed and signed into laws.

The regulations allow dispensaries to sell oral tablets, capsules, or tinctures; non-sugarcoated gelatinous cubes, gelatinous rectangular cuboids, or lozenges in a cube or rectangular cuboid shape; topical preparations; suppositories; transdermal patches; and liquids or oils for administration using a nebulizer or inhaler. Under the new regulations, neither flower nor infused food or drink is allowed. Also, any product that contains artificial or natural flavors or colors or can be used to smoke or vape, will also be banned.
