Raphael Mechoulam, a Dr. from Israel has made a significant contribution to the advancement of science in cannabis. Using strict scientific methods, a solid supply of cannabis, and enough Rhesus monkeys to prove his point, Mechoulam and colleagues identified THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) as the psychoactive component in cannabis.
In order to use CBD for its medical potential, they want to isolate it. Hampton Sides spoke with Hampton Sides about the potential of CBD for medical therapies. National GeographicMechoulam expressed concern about THC’s effects on teens developing brains. He says that marijuana is not “an innocuous substance.”
He also says that there is a “medicinal gold mine waiting to be found.” The use of cannabis or cannabis-derived products have been successful for treating glaucoma and PTSD. Parkinson’s and epilepsy are also included. Cannabis has a few benefits that it keeps hidden.
Cannabis THC: 8 Benefits You May Not Know
1. Anti-cancer Agent: The internet is chock full of rumors and anecdotes claiming marijuana is the silver bullet that will end cancer worldwide—any claims approximating that exaggeration present fraudulent promises to the already vulnerable cancer patient.
What is true lies in Manuel Guzmán’s laboratories at Madrid’s Complutense University. He is adamant that the results of experiments with rats are not necessarily applicable to humans. He is excited about the experimental results showing that THC can eradicate brain tumors within one week. THC has been shown to work over 15 years in research, reducing tumor sizes in one third of rats.
2. Skin CareCannabis has been known to be anti-inflammatory. It is also used for skin care. Tiffany Guevarra writes in Beauty World News that dermatologist Dr. Alexis Granite said, “Cannabinoids, which are potent antioxidants, can reduce inflammation. They may also help maintain skin’s natural barriers function, especially when they combine with hydrating oil.”
The positive effects of cannabis sativa are achieved by using products such as skin oil, mouthwash gel, hygiene gel and other skin care products that contain little THC.
- It soothes and heals. Hypoallergenic and antibacterial properties soothe and heal acne and other skin conditions such as blisters, bites or dryness.
- Anti-aging. Cannabis oil has high antioxidant levels and rejuvenates the skin.
- Mineral rich. Topical cannabis oils are loaded with potassium, calcium and magnesium.
3. Weight LossIt is not recommended as part of a diet program. The use of weed does not replace a healthy diet, exercise, or nutrition. Stoners are less likely to be obese than other people.
As a result, those who eat less or no food tend to be thinner than non-users. This puts them at a lower risk of heart disease and diabetes. This may not be more than just a correlation but could indicate that cannabis has a chemical composition worth investigating. According to a study in The American Journal of Medicine, current marijuana usage is linked with lower fasting insulin levels and smaller waist circumference.
4. HIV and Hepatitis CResearchers continue to investigate the link between marijuana consumption and HIV. Dronabinol is an oral THC prescription medication that has been prescribed to HIV patients to treat nausea, vomiting, and weight loss associated with cancer chemotherapy.
Researchers Margaret Haney Ph.D. and her colleagues found in their study “Dronabinol in HIV-positive Marijuana smokers Caloric intake, mood, and sleep” that “smoked marijuana and oral Dronabinol produce a range of similar positive effects, including increasing food consumption and body weight, producing a ‘good effect,’ without producing discomforting levels of intoxication, or impairing cognition.”
Further research has been conducted on the effect of Hepatitis C and marijuana on the liver. Anti-inflammation qualities of marijuana appear to have affected the progress of the condition. Work published in the European Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology concluded, “Our results suggest that modest cannabis use may offer symptomatic and virological benefit to some patients undergoing HCV treatment by helping them maintain adherence to the challenging medication regimen.”
The research is still confusing. Although some states allow medical marijuana as a treatment for Hepatitis, there are no studies that support this. While some believe that medical marijuana helps patients to achieve their goals, others say it may increase liver damage. Pharmacognosy Research’s most recent research from Jan-Feb 2017, concluded that CBD as it stands has the potential to be developed further as a therapy for viral hepatitis. Although this does not constitute a strong endorsement of CBD, the research is encouraged.
5. Opiate AddictionAll over the world, opioids are causing death. The addiction to opioids and their derivatives is at epidemic levels. Cannabis could be a solution. According to the Daily Beast: “States that have medical marijuana laws show almost 25 percent fewer average annual opioid overdoses than states without laws.”
Research focuses on marijuana’s positive impact on opioid withdrawal. It is interesting to note that the same subjects who were studied reduced their marijuana use after stabilizing with methadone.
6. AutismResearch into autism spectrum disorders will help to determine which direction we should go. Two major issues remain:
- Spectrum is too broad and poorly defined to challenge the scientific method.
- The ethical implications of experimenting on children are complex.
USA Today reported that research conducted in Israel showed “Some people no longer harm themselves or have tantrums.” Some people are more communicative. Some students were allowed to resume their classes following a suspension for behavior problems. The results are promising considering that traditional therapy based on antipsychotics is ineffective.
7. Lung CapacityThe increased blood flow is due to capillaries relaxing. The increased blood flow provides more oxygen for brain function.
When the heart beats in harmony with brain activity, it expands its capacity. Although all smoking is harmful to your system, smoking marijuana causes less harm than cigarettes.
8. We are a team of professionals who can help you with any questions or concerns.Cannabis has been linked to spirituality in some form for a long time. Its smoke was used in ancient ceremonies. Many people find that relaxation helps them to meditate and reflect.
Psychoactive effects encourage creative, imaginative thinking. Combining the effects of certain strains can increase empathy and compassion. The act of getting high offers a unique opportunity to gain insight and experience spiritual growth.
What is this to you?
As shown in this article, these 8 benefits of Cannabis THC are real and have applications. Each is a new area of study, with increased benefits. National Geographic quotes Nolan Kane from the University of Colorado’s evolutionary biology department, a geneticist who specializes in cannabis. Kane says that cannabis is “an embarrassment of richness.”
