Amy Klobuchar, a senior Senator from Minnesota who works across party lines to make changes to the recent federal ban of hemp in the USA.

After a November vote on a funding agreement to reopen the US Government, the language in that deal included a federal ban against the sale of unregulated hemp products. This includes those products containing delta-8 THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

Hemp Roundtable in the US says that the ban on hemp products will affect more than 95 percent of the total market.

However, it won’t be in effect for another year. And the industry is frantically trying to reverse the decision and have better regulation implemented.

Amy Klobuchar from Minnesota is one of those who are pursuing change.

A one-size-fits all approach for hemp regulations doesn’t work in states such as Minnesota, which already has strong safety standards. said Klobuchar. “We can protect our kids and support our small businesses — Minnesota’s model proves that’s possible.”

Senator Klobuchar has said that this ban will threaten 2700 Minnesota jobs.

The small business owners and farmers of our state should know that I have their backs.

Senator Klobuchar voted previously against the bill, and supported an amendment from Senator Rand Paul (R – KY) that removed the provisions impacting on hemp businesses. The Senate, however, rejected the amendment by 76-24.

Senator Brown made these comments when she visited Wild State Cider. The company produces THC-infused hemp beverages under the “Birdie’ brand. Birdie Vice President of Growth Ryan Kopperud stated that as the situation currently stands, the future of the industry was “truly frightening”.

Not just one company is at stake. “Not just one taproom.” It’s manufacturers, distributors, retailers, farmers, labs—the entire system behind these hemp products people already trust. Responsible, compliant and transparent businesses and all the revenue, jobs and tax base they bring.

Not all companies are compliant and responsible. In a recent study, it was found that underage buyers in Minnesota are often sold intoxicating THC-based hemp products.
