Texas Poll shows Republican voters are opposed to the Hemp ban that is awaiting governor’s signature – MEDCAN24

According to Ragnar Research Partners, more Texas Republican voters are opposed to the recent bill that bans intoxicating products made from hemp than they are for it.

In the survey of 800 Republican primary candidates in Texas, 47% opposed it, 37% supported it, and 16% were uncertain. The pollster also found that 47% of respondents opposed the ban, while 37% said they supported it and 16% were unsure.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) still has not signaled whether he will or won’t sign the bill — or whether he is considering a veto, Marijuana Moment reported. Advocates claim that if this bill is passed, the hemp industry of the state will suffer, as it provides over 53,000 jobs.

In a release, the Texas Hemp Business Council said that they had submitted 5,000 notes written by hand and more than 180,000 signatures urging the Governor to veto this bill. Mark Bordas said that “Texans don’t want SB 3” in a press release. Texans know SB 3 is an attack on Texans’ rights and freedoms that will lead to the loss of tens or thousands of job opportunities.

It is up to the governor to decide by July 22, whether he will sign or veto the bill. He can also choose to do nothing, and the law proposal may become law without signing.
