Skateboarding Legend Stevie Williams Builds A Cannabis Empire

The street style of DGK is inspired by the plants that its creator clearly loves.

Stevie Williams made his skateboarding debut more than 30 years ago. He was initially known as Little Stevie. In 1994, he appeared in Element’s Fine Artists Vol 1 Series after ripping through Philadelphia’s LOVE Park at the age of 12. His skills were well beyond his young age and he quickly became a symbol of the city.

Williams’ business acumen was evident by the age of 18. Williams’ career and sponsoring opportunities increased with the help of global brands such as G-Shock Reebok, and Playboy. These companies offered exclusive collaborations and product lines. With an entrepreneurial spirit that had yet to be satiated, Williams, with friend and collaborator Eli Soto, launched the skate brand DGK (Dirty Ghetto Kids)—a reclamation of the stereotype Williams says he faced growing up Black in the inner city—cementing his legacy on the board and beyond.

Williams has become as popular for streetwear and skating as he is known for his interest in fashion, which is rooted in the cannabis culture. DGK has a wide range of products inspired by cannabis, including a Team Indica basketball line and rolling trays decorated with artwork.

Williams says, “DGK represents urban cultures. By representing this culture in the correct way we can support the cannabis movement and space.”

Lord Williams Farms is his latest venture, and it’s inspired by downtown Los Angeles. It uses the NFC technology that has become popularized in the legal marijuana industry of the city. “Lord Willaims represents a brand that is on a journey in the cannabis space,” says he. It’s a mix of lifestyle, technology, cannabis, and psychedelics.

Williams’ tag allows his clients to interact with the product beyond static graphics.

Williams has continued to cement his multi-faceted legacy in the world of fashion, skateboarding and cannabis through ventures that range from skateboard gear to streetwear.
