[PRESS RELEASE] – WASHINGTON, Oct. 6, 2025 – U.S. Hemp Roundtable has sent President J. Trump the letter below:
Please, Mr.
Signing the 2018 Farm Bill, you have ushered a new age for American hemp. We are thankful and hopeful as hemp farmers, hemp consumers and hemp advocates that we can use your influence to save the $28,4 billion hemp market that you made possible. Recent developments in the hemp industry have been a cause for concern. video you shared Raising awareness about hemp and its positive effects was crucial to the success of our American-grown products.
Our members at the U.S. Hemp Roundtable are committed to giving Americans options for improving their health and wellbeing. Sadly, the federal governments hasn’t been able to keep up. We have done well with our self-regulation, and we are creating jobs, despite the fact that there is no federal regulation or clear guidelines. Now we need you to help us!

Congress is nearing a decision to ban hemp. This will reverse the progress you made in 2018 that allowed hemp to flourish. Proposed definition changes to hemp that are being hailed as protecting Americans would destroy 95% this unique American industry.
A more effective way to protect American consumers and jobs would be to support and demand robust hemp regulation – age restrictions along with uniform testing, labeling, and packaging requirements. It is neither the solution nor will it keep anyone safe to outright ban hemp products. It is not safe to ban legal hemp products, which are already regulated by the states. This will only drive hemp into the black market.

Help us to save the hemp industry and regulate it properly. An American ban could put American farmers and businesses at risk, as well our consumers, veterans, seniors, plus more than 328,00 American workers.
American voters support you on this issue. Texas has a growing hemp industry. In Texas 76% your voters, and 78% senior citizens, support legal, regulated, hemp sales. Over 62% of Texans are likely to vote for candidates who support the regulated sale hemp-derived products.
You have done a great job in defending hemp as a proud American product.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Miller
