According to WWLP, the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission announced that it will be auditing retail cannabis products for THC levels.

Audits are being conducted to test the THC content of products on the legal market. If the results show that the THC level is less than 75-125%, then the product may be taken off the shelves.

According to the agency, this process is for consumers’ safety and for public protection.

This is important to ensure the Commission can provide Massachusetts residents safe, fair, and equitable access to marijuana. The effort is aimed at improving patient and consumer education statewide, taking into account that THC content in marijuana flower products is not constant, degrades with time, and is affected by other factors. — CCC Executive Director Travis Ahern, in a statement

Meanwhile, Gov. Maura Shealey (D), appointed three new CCC Commissioners last week. Healey reduced the number of CCC commissioners to three from five a few months ago.

Harding is now the chair of this commission, which includes Xiomara deLobato and Anthony Wilson.
