Maine Bill Bans Cannabis Ads – MEDCAN24

Advertising on business websites, signs and property, as well as in directories, is exempted from the bill. Advertising for medical cannabis and adult-use marijuana businesses would be covered by the proposed ban. 

There are some restrictions on advertising cannabis under the law. Ads within 1,000 feet from schools are prohibited, as well as misleading or false claims.  

Kasper Heinrici of the dispensary Seaweed Co. told WGME he was against this ban and believes that advertisements should be allowed as long as they don’t target children. 

He said that cannabis should not be used by children. We try to follow this rule, which we believe applies to any cannabis usage, be it medical or adult. 

The Senate Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee is currently considering the proposal.
