A number of companies have reported significant advancements in their research on cannabinoids.
- MIRA Pharmaceuticals: Mira-55, an proprietary, non-psychotropic cannabis analog, has reported positive preclinical studies. The drug showed pain-relieving effects similar to morphine, but without the local inflammation.
- InMed Pharmaceuticals: INM-901 has been shown to significantly reduce inflammation in neuroinflammation models ex-vivo, which suggests its potential as a treatment for Alzheimer’s.
- Corbus Pharmaceuticals Holdings (March 2025): The first subject was dosed in the Phase I study of CRB-913 (a cannabinoid receptor inverse-agonist) for obesity.

- Biopharmaceutical Company (BRC) – December 2024 BRC-002 was designated as an orphan drug by the US Food and Drug Administration for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.
Cannabinoids: Their therapeutic potential and understanding
Cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid systems of our bodies, a network that is involved in controlling pain perception and mood. They also regulate appetite and immune functions. The compounds are either derived directly from the cannabis (phytocannabinoids such as THC and CBD) or produced in the body (endocannabinoids, like anandamide).
