Illinois sales drop again in February, – MEDCAN24



Illinois marijuana sales fell 7% from $161.7 to $150.3 in February.

Recreational sales – the lion’s share of the market – pulled in $130.6 million for the month, down from $140.2 million the month prior, while medical dispensary sales were down to $19.7 million from $21.5 million.

Sales were also down year-over-year from $160 million in February 2024, which included $135.6 million in recreational sales and $24.4 million in medical sales.

In 2024 however, the sales for January were at $158.1 millions. Markets recovered rapidly in February before a second dip occurred in September. This was then followed by an excellent holiday shopping season.

According to data from the state, this trend hasn’t been repeated so far in 2018.

In February wholesale sales fell to $55.7 from 58.4 in January. This category of sales also has been declining for the majority of this year according to state statistics.

In February, cannabis flower accounted for the majority of recreational retail sales. This was followed by extracts with $48.4 millions in sales and edibles in third place at $18.9million in sales.

According to the report, average prices of cannabis for adults have been falling. One gram now costs $8.40 on average, which is down from an April 2020 peak price of $17.50.
