It appears that the freewheeling times for hemp-derived THC are fading in America. In about 12 states, after a boom of hemp-derived THC, legislators are now pursuing bans on hemp intoxicants or imposing disruptively strict rules. This is causing deep anxiety in the hemp industry. MEDCAN24.
In contrast to the blanket ban on hemp-THC products imposed last fall in California, little of the nationwide hemp crackdown seems immediately poised to help struggling operators in the regulated marijuana industry who saw hemp as an unwelcome competitor playing by different rules.
Some hemp operators believe that alcohol companies are behind the restrictive legislation, as they know the youth is drinking less. This industry wants to take advantage of this new revenue stream.
Jonathan Miller, counsel in charge of the U.S. Hemp Roundtable – a federal lobbying group – said, “We are under attack from a number of different sources.” Some states are planning to ban retail sales.
