Cannabis has been linked to heightened perception for a long time. Being high makes music richer, more powerful, and allows listeners to feel deeper emotions.
Seth Misterka is a sound healer and musician. Jenny Deveau loves the cannabis plant for its healing properties. Misterka affirms that “Cannabis makes a great complement to sound baths.” Since it increases your senses, and sense of relaxation is perfect for this kind of audio experience, you get during a Sound Bath.
Deveau and Misterka, the couple who created Dynasty Electrik – a sound and music healing duo combining ancient wisdom and their musical abilities – are behind this project. It is described as a bridge connecting the ancient sound healing tradition with modern artistry and healing plants from nature. Its distinctive sound invites people to reflect and guide them through a journey of personal growth.
Misterka said that combining sound healing and cannabis was something the two discovered naturally. He says they had been using cannabis before sound healing for its calming and spiritually elevating qualities. Together, sound and cannabis can be a powerful medicine. Cannabis’ relaxing, sensory-enhancing properties are an excellent complement to sound healing.
They met in an early 2000s New York bar and formed an electronic music act. In 2012, however, the couple’s path changed in a surprising and transformational way. They began to practice sound healing. This ancient tradition uses sound frequency principles that can help bring harmony back to our bodies. Lisa Ishvara Murphy is an energy medicine healer in Fairhaven.
Misterka affirms that “sound healing is at the heart of her work.” “We began working and studying with her after seeing the amazing results she was getting when working with people with supposedly “incurable” conditions.” Murphy had them go to Brevard, NC, a tiny, artistic mountain town. They “lived in a small cabin in the forest for six months.” The group spent the day making music, visiting waterfalls and studying sound and energy healing medicine. They studied ancient singing bowls used in healing and transformation.
Misterka describes the time as “magical and wonderful”.
Misterka and Deveau, with a burning desire to share this magic, delved deeper into the shamanic healing sound, opening new dimensions in their art as guides and musicians. In 2018, they opened Mile High Retreat in Southern California, their first sanctuary.
Misterka explains, “We were looking for a retreat in nature where we can explore creativity and sound healing as well as energy healing.”
During this time, Dynasty Electrik served as resident sound healer in the renowned Mystic Journey Crystal Gallery of Venice, CA. Among the celebrities they welcomed were Usher, Snapchat, Marvel Studios, and many others. Deveau states that “every week we created an incredible community which was sold out for over two years.” We did several collaborations with CBD companies. CBD is an excellent medicine, and especially useful for those that do not like THC’s effects.
Misterka and Deveau moved to a small beach village in Nova Scotia. Seal Harbour Sanctuary is a sound healing center that they founded in 2022 on the Atlantic Ocean’s shores. Misterka says that the area has always held an attraction for them. He says that Lisa Ishvara Murphy, who lived in Nova Scotia for a time, always spoke fondly about the “mystical” quality of this region. Jenny’s grandfather is originally from Nova Scotia. It has always been a part of our imagination. This is a great opportunity to be able to live on the coast, and explore some of our ancestral roots within a magical and mysterious landscape.
Seal Harbour Sanctuary offers three-day boutique retreats that allow you to experience the deep connection with yourself, Earth and cosmos in the tranquility of an amazing natural setting. This is a sacred place where guests can transcend their beliefs, patterns and fear through shared energies. “Cannabis is completely legal everywhere in Canada, which creates an even more tolerant environment than in the US—Nova Scotia is particularly cannabis friendly,” Misterka says. Seal Harbour Retreat provides a secure environment to consume cannabis. Dynasty Elektrik, who continue to produce music along with their sound baths in person, released in August 2023 a mesmerizing, sound-healing, album entitled Travel to Tranquility Twelve tracks on the album offer an enchanting fusion of binaural sounds, cosmic frequencies and ethereal voices, leading listeners into a peaceful haven of meditation and relaxation as they relax and melt into their body and tap into this mind-body link.
