Spannabis returned to Barcelona in March. Cannabis enthusiasts and leaders of business from all over the world attended. Spannabis, which began in 2004 as a small event has now grown to be the largest cannabis festival on the planet. The Cannabis Now Team captured the event’s energy on film March 16—the last day of the last Spannabis in Barcelona.
The film explains that Spannabis is the first Spanish tradeshow to combine elements from a trade show and a festival, creating a unique experience. This video recap takes a look back at Spannabis. It features interviews with Blimburn Seeds leaders, Royal Queen Seeds representatives, High Tide and Humboldt Seed Company.
Brands shared a strong sense of collaboration and camaraderie as they worked together to improve the cannabis industry. Ramon Van Wanrooij says, “The cannabis industry has a lot of challenges.” He is the director of High Tide’s ecommerce. “Constantly you’re dealing with legal issues, compliance issues, but the ones that are in the industry—eventually they became really great leaders and really great businessmen because they had to deal with so many issues being flexible.”
“His advice for the future generation?” Work hard, be social, pursue your passion and embrace culture.
Spannabis is moving from Barcelona to Bilboa in March 2025. Spannabis has enjoyed Barcelona’s culture, but it is time to move on. Sergio Martinez CEO of BBG Projects, Blimburn seeds has been a Spannabis attendee since its inception and is looking forward to a promising future: “I can see the difference between how things were 20 years ago, and now. I am really optimistic for what will come next.”
