Cultural Heritage

As festival season kicks off, the heritage rolling paper brand is reshaping the pace—and purpose—of cannabis culture.

4/20 marks the unofficial start of festival season—and this year, Zig-Zag is everywhere.

The heritage brand of rolling papers is proving itself across the nation in ways that reflect the evolving cannabis culture. From Denver to Atlanta to Austin, Las Vegas to Las Vegas. Instead of adding to the usual chaos—packed stages, tight schedules, nonstop motion—Zig-Zag is creating space to slow it all down. The focus is less on rushing to the next set and more about living “Life’s Fast”. Burn Slow is a real-time mindset.

Maggie Streng is the Zig Zag brand director. She says, “Cannabis is maturing and it is not about driving consumption but rather shaping the experience.” The once-underground cannabis industry is now open to the public, and focuses on shared moments instead of excess.

At a moment when cannabis culture is more visible—and more crowded—than ever, that shift feels intentional. Zig-Zag has built lounges and rolling stations at 4/20 festivals across the country. They are less about spectacle than they are about presence. Places to sit, roll, reset—and actually take in the moment instead of rushing past it.

“In a world that’s constantly speeding up, ‘Life’s Fast Burn Slow’ is about creating space for something that’s real,” Streng says. The song reflects the direction of culture and Zig-Zag’s history. Rolling is inherently intentional—it slows you down and makes the experience more present.”

That mindset is showing up on the ground in different ways depending on the city—but the theme remains the same: Carve out a pause inside the noise.

Streng continues, “4/20 was always energetic but there wasn’t always an intention behind it.” “We’re trying to bring a clearer point of view to the moment—something that actually reflects where culture is going.”

Plus, there will be opportunities to sample Zig Zag’s just released Natural Leaf Wraps.

Zig-Zag’s Stops at the 4/20 Festival

With festivals, retail takeovers, pop-ups, and dispensary moments all happening at once, it’s shaping up to be one of Zig-Zag’s biggest 4/20s yet—positioning the brand not just as a staple of the culture, but as a signal of where it’s headed next. Streng says that 4/20 is not a single-day event. We’re instead building it up as a nationwide cultural moment across the culture, retail and execution in markets.
