A survey by Abacus Data, commissioned by Organigram Global, found that a majority of Canadians (57%) view cannabis as being important for the economy. Another 62% think it can play an even greater role in future economies. In regions that have a strong cannabis industry, such as Atlantic Canada (65%), the Prairies (64%) Ontario (62%), or British Columbia (61%), cannabis is viewed most positively by Canadians.

The survey found that nearly two-thirds of Canadians surveyed – 64% – indicated they are open to the federal government doing more to help the legal cannabis sector grow.

According to estimates, the cannabis industry will generate more than $43 billion in gross domestic product by 2024. from Statistics Canada, the sector added $7.4 billion to Canada’s GDP.
This survey took place between 3-8 April amongst 1,915 Canadian adults.
