A new study suggests that drinking tea with marijuana infusions before you go to sleep can help improve the quality of your sleep as well as make you happier.

The study published in this month’s Journal of Health Science and Medical Research found that the cannabis-infused tea increased happiness in participants.

Researchers at the Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Thailand, divided 30 volunteers in three groups and gave them drip teas infused with cannabis at a weight-based percentage of 3 percent, 7 percent or 5 percent.

After a week, participants were asked to steep marijuana in hot tea and drink it 30 minutes prior to going bed every day. The participants’ happiness was assessed by a 15 item questionnaire, followed up with a telephone interview.

The findings of this study suggest that cannabis-infused tea can be used to improve happiness.

The group that consumed the marijuana infusions at 5 or 7 percent weight reported better sleep.

This group was found to have the highest happiness level. The authors concluded that this preparation is the best way to increase happiness.

According to the study, “it contributed to improvements of life satisfaction, self esteem, ability to face and accept problems.

“Cannabis-infused tea enhanced the state of happiness without reported side effects,” the paper concludes. The prototype tea is therefore able to be consumed in the right doses for maintaining health and happiness.

Cannabis-based products for tea may provide a new therapeutic avenue in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.

The researchers cautioned, however, that it is possible that the effects of herbal substances in the tea itself, such as peppermint and stevia, could have contributed to changes in participants’ happiness levels—and that also said that future studies should examine the long-term efficacy and safety of drinking cannabis-infused tea.

New research confirms the findings of other studies that found cannabis to be beneficial in terms of mood and wellbeing.

In a study published this year on adults who consume cannabis-infused drinks, the “substitution” effect was evident. A significant number of participants reported reduced alcohol consumption after including cannabinoid beverages into their daily routine. The study also found improvements in sleep and overall well-being, and reduced pain, anxiety, and stress.

According to a survey conducted by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, about two thirds of Americans who smoke marijuana report that it helps them sleep.

A separate study involving over 3,500 patients found that medical marijuana may help reduce medication use, such as sleeping pills. After switching from prescription medications to cannabis, they also experienced far fewer side effects.

A recent study showed that CBD in cannabis can help ease moderate-to-severe anxiety symptoms after short periods of use.
