Cannabis Industry Leaders Merge to Create Unified Advocacy Group in Washington – MEDCAN24

Two of the largest US Cannabis businesses have joined forces to amplify the collective voice and opinions of nearly half a million employees as the new administration takes office.

The Nationwide Cannabis Roundtable(NCR) has merged with the US Cannabis Council to form the US Cannabis Roundtable. They have combined their lobbying and coverage advocacy efforts.

The US Cannabis Roundtable, therefore, will include 13,000 cannabis businesses in 38 states and 450,000 full-time employees.

Its formation comes at what it describes as a ‘pivotal time for the regulated cannabis business,’ one at which a unified voice is extra necessary than ever.

Kim Rivers is the CEO of Trulieve, Vice Chair of NCR and Kim Rivers points out that during his campaign, the soon to be President Trump supported cannabis rescheduling as well as the SAFER Banking Act.

“President Trump’s endorsement represents an important shift in the cannabis policy and advocacy.” The first time in history, a Republican President endorsed these initiatives. Our new mixed organization will be best placed to assist the president achieve their end goal.

The following are the key initiatives that the new organization will be advocating:

  • Reclassifying cannabis into Schedule III
  • The passage of state’s rights laws, which allow every state to determine its own policy on the coverage of cannabis.
  • Adopting cannabis Banking Laws
  • The un-American status quo that allows foreign cannabis businesses to list on NASDAQ and NYSE while prohibiting US state licensed cannabis enterprises from doing so.
