You wake up the next day feeling exhausted, depleted and like you want to do nothing but veg out. If you’re feeling a headache, fogginess or just a bit more “blah”, it could be that your body is not functioning as normal. When you think about your night, you can’t recall drinking. The following are some examples of how to use much or doing anything else that would make you feel so lethargic… but then it hits you. If you have been smoking all night, or eating cannabis-infused foods like it was nothing more than a snack like you would do with any other food item, the THC aftershock is hitting you.
Many people refer to it as a “weed-hangover.”
Unexpectedly, it’s not just alcohol that makes you feel ill after overindulging. Dehydration, the main culprit when it comes to booze hangovers, has been shown to have a short-term effect on brain function and cognition (things like such as attention and memory), according to one study. Some reports are contradictory when it comes down to the question of whether or not marijuana can lead to hangover symptoms.
For example, another study determines that “marijuana smoking can produce residual (hangover) effects the day after smoking.” But a different study not only concludes that “marijuana smoking was not associated with a ‘hangover,'” but that “no evidence of residual subjective intoxication was found, and most of the behavioral tasks and mood scales were unaffected the morning after.” Then, what is the truth? How cannabis effects you is a personal matter. Others have experienced the unwanted condition of a weed-induced hangover.
You can recover from a bad experience with edibles, dabs or hits.
Sleep It Off & Hydrate
A weed-induced hangover can be easily cured with a bit of rest and patience. It’s not worth the effort.
In general, any annoying or unpleasant symptoms caused by consuming more cannabis than your tolerance will disappear after taking a long nap. It is easy to sleep it off and let your body do the rest. You can still help yourself weather the storm if your plans are too tight or you have to go to work.
Hydration is the next best way to get rid of your pot-pot fog. You can also experience dry mouth or intense thirst. H2O will be your friend. Also, you can try moisturizing eyedrops or resting your eyes with a cold compress. If you’re feeling mildly nauseated, ginger or peppermint can help soothe the stomach. If you are experiencing brain fog, try drinking coffee or going on a short walk.
Most people feel great the day following a session of smoking, dabbing, or eating marijuana. The residual effects are usually accompanied by a desire for extra snacks, and good sleep. There may be occasions when you accidentally consume more than what is recommended, but learning your tolerance level should always come first.
But if you find that you’re experiencing hangover-like symptoms often, then may consider cutting back a little bit, microdosing or taking tolerance break to reconsider how you’re consuming cannabis.
