North Carolina Files Bill Legalizing Medical Marijuana – Medcan24

The bill was introduced by Democratic legislators last week. Aisha Dew (state rep), Pricey Harrison (rep), Zack Hawkins (rep) and Nasif Maheed proposed the North Carolina Compassionate Care Act to create a list with qualifying conditions for accessing medical cannabis. 

This proposal will require all doctors to recommend cannabis as a treatment for certain debilitating diseases, such cancer, epilepsy HIV/AIDS Parkinson’s and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Parkinson’s and Parkinson’s. 

This bill also created the North Carolina Cannabis Research Program, which “would undertake objective scientific research on the use of cannabis and cannabis-infused products in medical treatments.” 

A similar bill was introduced in 2024 by Republican state Rep. Bill Rabon and was Your approval is required The bill was passed by the Senate, but it never reached the House of Representatives.
