Poll: 71% of North Carolina Voters Support Legalizing Medical Cannabis | MEDCAN24

Meredith College poll of North Carolina voters conducted in early February revealed that 71% support legalizing medical cannabis access reform. Only 23% opposed these proposals while another 6% were uncertain of what their position should be on this matter.
Meredith pollsters also noted that majorities across every demographic in the state – even residents who identify as most conservative — support legalizing medical cannabis access. Their poll consisted of 703 likely voters polled from February 3-10 with an accuracy rate of +/-3.75%.
North Carolina stands as one of only several states without legal medical marijuana access, yet most medical community support a bill being introduced into parliament.” — Meredith Poll Director David McLennan in a report issued.
North Carolina Senate lawmakers have previously passed medical cannabis reform proposals three times; each time, however, this legislation was defeated in the House. This year’s effort, known as the North Carolina Compassionate Care Act would permit doctors to prescribe medical cannabis to qualifying patients suffering from physical and/or mental conditions.
Last September, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians unveiled its cannabis retailer Great Smoky Cannabis Company to all adult-use customers residing within its Qualla Boundary region – marking North Carolina’s inaugural and only retail cannabis location.
