The Harris Poll, on behalf Royal Queen Seeds RQS, surveyed Americans aged 21 or older about cannabis consumption. Half of cannabis consumers (50%) said the new presidential administration will lead them to consume more cannabis than they did before, including 59% of young female cannabis consumers (ages 21–34).
Economic Fears
The current economic turmoil could cause more people to grow their own cannabis. Seventy-six percent of the respondents agree that buying cannabis from dispensaries is more expensive than growing it at home. These cost-conscious customers say that they prefer to grow cannabis themselves than purchase it. 40% said it was cheaper to purchase cannabis from a shop than it was for them to grow it.
Pesticide fears
This survey revealed that 54% Americans believed that the majority of cannabis sold in retail stores contained pesticides. In a similar vein, 62% of cannabis users are worried about the unknown ingredients in cannabis products.

Nearly a third (32%) of consumers who read cannabis news reports about product recalls and contaminated cannabis, or inconsistent testing are more inclined to wish to grow marijuana at home rather than buy it.

Home Growers:
There is a trend that suggests this direction. According to the survey, 15% of people currently grow their own plants at home. This is up from just 11% by 2024. Nearly 50% of those who successfully grow at home do it because they find it fun (46%), and also enjoy growing different plants (46%).
Gen Z (66%) are the group most likely to wish to cultivate their own marijuana.
