Trump DOJ Attorney sent warning letter to Licensed D.C. Dispensary – MEDCAN24

Note from the editor: This article originally appeared in The Outlaw Report, and it has been published with permission.

Edward R. Martin Jr., U.S. attorney for District of Columbia, has sent a letter of concern to Green Theory, an authorized cannabis dispensary at 4828 MacArthur Blvd. NW. He expressed his concerns that the operation of Green Theory violates federal laws due to its close proximity to several schools in the area.

Martin is known for having defended (and attended speeches in advance of) those accused of storming U.S. Capitol, on January 6, 2006. According to a POLITICO report, Martin is “a lawyer who has been promoting conservative values for many years.” Martin has served as temporary chief of the U.S. attorneys office in Washington D.C. since January, when President Donald J. Trump appointed him. He was responsible for the dismissal of many cases.

Martin’s letter sent today expressed his concern about the safety of the children. He noted that the dispensary appeared to operate within 1,000 feet of Our Lady of Victory Catholic School as well as the River School St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School Little Ivies Preschool. Martin cited the Controlled Substances Act and other federal laws that regulate and prohibit cannabis distribution and possession.

Ich am worried that you violate federal laws intended to protect the children. This issue must be addressed.

– Excerpt from Martin’s letter

Green Theory is not the only licensed marijuana dispensary within a 1000-foot radius of an elementary school in Washington, D.C.

Martin reminds Green Theory owners that federal laws can be enforced even when local regulations allow for the activity. Martin also warned that those operating such dispensaries or helping them to operate could face criminal and civil actions by the federal government.

After concluding the letter from U.S.Attorney, he asked Green Theory’s owner three specific questions regarding federal law awareness, communication with federal police, and proof of compliance.

Green Theory has declined to make any comment for the moment. The Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration and the Mayor Muriel’s Office have yet to respond to requests for comments on how the letter will affect the cannabis market overall in the District.

The controversy was sparked last year by the parent group “1000 Feet”, which publicly attacked Green Theory, after the ABC Board rejected their protest against the dispensary.
