Tennessee is among only 10 U.S. state without an extensive medical cannabis program.

TACIR has until the end of November 2026 to complete its annual report, according to a bill that was approved by lawmakers last week, and signed into law Friday.

A proposed amendment during the bill’s passage through the Legislature, would have changed state laws on medical cannabis automatically if the federal Government were to remove cannabis from the most strict drug schedule. WKRN reports that Republican lawmakers blocked the amendment.

Gov. Lee reportedly said that he previously opposed any legalization of marijuana.
